Lyon Valley Northern

This site is designed to promote the hobby of ferroequinology. It also provides an opportunity to show the development of the "Lyon Valley Northern": an HO railroad featuring CN and BNSF action in the West. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments at cnlyon@sympatico.ca

Tom Badenoch's Northern Pontiac Railway

Here is a seven part series featuring Tom Badenoch's Northern Pontiac Railway.  This is a double layered model railroad with a helix.  It features a CN freelance design with lots of mainline and industrial/yard switching.  Tom talks about the concept then takes us on a tour.  Finally there is some action as the trains ply the rails and switch local industries.  Lots to be learned from seeing his ideas and listening to his thoughts about this fun hobby.

FRANK MILOTTE'S OTTAWA NORTHERN & WESTERN RAILWAY

This is a blast from the past and Frank takes us on a tour of his layout. He talks about DC systems shows us panels and wiring and we see how operations are conducted in the block system. A final run of trains demonstrates the method of layout building in the day when dogbone loops allowed for extra operations in a small basement.
