SWITCHING BROWN AND VANADIUM

Brown is the first passing siding and water tower out of Ridgeway.  The town siding occasionally has a  rail car waiting for pickup.  On this day the train to Rico has to conduct some interesting switching maneuvers to do the lift.

The Vanadium siding is owned and controlled by the US Army.  There is heavy security so RGS is not permitted to enter the mine and processing plant with their locomotives.  The Army's switcher does all the work and it is seen doing the lifts and drops for the Ridgeway to Rico Freight.

FEBRUARY OPS SESSION ON THE LVN

A sneak peak at the Friday Night Group spending some fun time operating the Lyon Valley Northern.  Lots of switching action and a focus on the mainline crossover with a helpful hint from Mike Hamer.

Switching Placerville

Bill Scobie takes the lead locomotive while Pierre Lamontagne operates the helper on the freight from Ridgeway to Rico.  The switching operations in Placerville are interesting as the two Sn3 steam locomotives operate both ends of the yard.   Interesting moves were made to situate the lifts in the proper part of the train.  There are facing and trailing moves for drop offs at industries and local moves.as well.    The long freight had to clear the main for passenger train traffic.  Always a joy to see Bill's Sn3 Rio Grande Southern put through its paces.
